Artists at Landfall
Continuing a distinguished line of artists who lived at Kent Cottage in the last century and in keeping with the wishes of the Trust’s benefactor, Bradley J. Folensbee (Jake), Landfall Trust, since its inception in 2005, has opened the doors of Kent Cottage every summer to artists to stay for two to four weeks to create art in this idyllic and inspiring setting.
Partnerships with arts organizations in St. John’s have been developed to promote the residencies and to select the artists each year. The definition of artist has expanded from just visual artists to include writers and musicians. Thus for ten weeks every season, the walls of the Cottage now echo with not only the swish of a paintbrush, but also the scratch of a pen, tap of the keyboard or the strumming of a tune.

Under the stewardship of the Landfall Trust the cottage today welcomes artists, writers and musicians from around the world, a fitting legacy for a property that historically served as a home and muse for professional and amateur artists alike.
